What is the PSAT?
The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is a standardized test often taken by high school sophomores and juniors. The purpose of the PSAT is to prepare students for the SAT, as it is similar in format, structure, and content. Additionally, the PSAT serves as the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program, which recognizes academic achievement and provides merit-based scholarships to eligible students. The PSAT covers reading, writing, language, and math, and is typically administered in October of each year. It is an important tool for students to assess their strengths and weaknesses and identify areas for improvement before taking the SAT.
