The International Baccalaureate (IB) Chemistry program is a challenging and rewarding course that covers a wide range of topics in the field of chemistry. The course is designed to help students develop a deep understanding of the subject, as well as the skills needed to analyze and interpret complex chemical phenomena. The IB Chemistry program is divided into four main topics: Stoichiometry, Atomic Structure, Periodicity, and Chemical Bonding; Energetics, Kinetics, and Equilibrium; Organic Chemistry; and Measurement and Data Processing.

Stoichiometry, Atomic Structure, Periodicity, and Chemical Bonding:

This topic covers the fundamental principles of chemistry, including stoichiometry, atomic structure, periodicity, and chemical bonding. Students will learn about the mole concept, stoichiometric calculations, electronic structure of atoms and molecules, periodic trends, and chemical bonding.

Energetics, Kinetics, and Equilibrium:

This topic covers the study of thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, and chemical equilibrium. Students will learn about energy changes in chemical reactions, rates of chemical reactions, and the factors that affect them, and the principles of chemical equilibrium.

Organic Chemistry:

This topic covers the study of organic compounds, including their structures, properties, and reactions. Students will learn about the nomenclature, structure, and properties of organic compounds, as well as the mechanisms of organic reactions.

Measurement and Data Processing:

This topic covers the principles of measurement and data processing in chemistry. Students will learn about the techniques used to measure physical and chemical properties of substances, as well as the principles of data collection, processing, and analysis.

Assessment in IB Chemistry includes both external and internal assessment components. The external assessment is comprised of written exams, which test students’ understanding of core concepts and their ability to apply them to real-world scenarios. The internal assessment includes practical work, where students design and carry out experiments and write up their findings.

At All Round Education Academy, our IB Chemistry tutors are experts in the subject and are experienced in teaching the IB Chemistry program. They provide personalized attention and a learner-centred approach to teaching, focusing on building a strong knowledge base, developing analytical and critical thinking skills, and providing guidance in experimental design and data analysis.
